Trends in Media and Technology
Edi Sukmara
In the later future the trend of
media and technology can be seen from the phenomenon of media merge
which will integrate several separate media into more unifying ones. The
advancement development of computer makes it possible to combine some distinct
media and create more interactive media. Everything will be digitalized and
people will access everything easily.
This trend will continue to the
convergence of telecommunications technologies. This can happen as computer
is able to reduce all conventional information forms into a common form-stream
of digital bits. Computer is able to combine complex combinations of text,
numbers, sound, motion images, simulations, integrated learning systems, and
job aids into interactive programs that will be cross-indexed and stored in
databases for instant retrieval and use.
The next trend is the convergence
and disappearance of computers. Computer technology will grow rapidly and
many computers will emerge and disappear fast. Computer will have certain
features that converge many tools such as pens, notebooks, chalkboards,
desktops, and many more. This will make learning never easy as before.
The trend of media and technology
will take many advantages from the rapid growth of telecommunication
systems, information superhighway and telecommunication networks. Students
will get the information easily as the satellite and fiber optic will make the
internet fast, and as the computers are becoming more ubiquitous, they will do
the tasks in their private rooms. This will cause the rapid spread of
information throughout the world and make the students exchange the information
easily.
