As a modern tool, computer has many benefits for teaching and learning process. One of the benefits of computer is it can be used to make the learning process interesting. As many sophisticated tools in the computer, it can create many interesting media for learning process. By using interesting media, learners can be more enthusiasts in learning. Besides it is interesting, computer also makes the teaching and learning process become more effective and efficient. Because of the benefits of computers in teaching and learning process, it is very important to know the application of computers.

The following is the charts of the application of computers:

Computer has extensive capacity to store and manipulate information. Computer has the ability to control and integrate a wide variety of media as well as printed information. It can record, analyse, and react to students responses that are typed on keyboard.

Heinich et all (1996: 228) states that there are two major applications of computers in instruction: Computer-assisted instruction (CAI) and computer-managed instruction (CMI). In CAI, the students interact directly with the computer as a part of intructional activity. This can be in the form of material presented by the computer in controlled sequence like desktop-publised book of student poems. The computer can be the object of instruction. It also can be used during instruction to do complex calculation and manipulation, word processing and presentations. Computer-assisted instruction helps students learn specific skills. Software is now capable of providing students with complex tasks to engage them in real–world problems. Many education futurists foresee that rapidly burgeoning information technology will force a fundamental restructuring of the way schooling is organized. Many schools are already experimenting with alternative approach to education, organizing instruction around technology rich environment.

In CMI the computers help the instructors and the students in maintaining information about students and in guiding the instructional process. The computer can be used to store information about each student and about relevant instructional materials. Further, the computer can diagnose the learning needs of students and prescribe optimal sequences of instruction for them.
